Research shows we learn more when we get our entire body involved.
Students will use sidewalk chalk and make up a hopscotch game using sight words; students will make a board game for addition and subtraction they can include exercise elements into their board game to keep things interesting. Students will show off their skills in a video project they create.

In this class, we will work on reading, writing, and grammar skills. Students will go to Google Classroom to get their work they will have a daily oral language drill, and a journal assignment every day of the week they will be able to access their resources for the entire week on the first day of each week.

We will play Kahoot to check on the understanding of grammar rules.
Students will read books and be able to explain characters, plot, and setting in a story. Describe how characters in a fiction read-aloud respond to major events and challenges; Describe how words and phrases (e.g., regular beats, alliteration, rhymes, repeated lines) supply rhythm and meaning in a story, poem, or song. Describe the following story elements: characters, setting, and plot, including how the beginning introduces the story and the ending concludes the action.
Students will also learn keyboarding skills, to help them become fast at typing.

Students will create a final video project showing their new knowledge of sight words, reading, and the games they have created.

In math, we will work on place value ones, tens, hundreds. We will work on adding and subtracting within 100. Students will use the information they know about shapes to create a geometric town and create a video explaining their town.

Science-We will study the earth; we will study plants and landforms. Properties of Matter
Changes in Matter, Forms of Energy, Forces, and Changes in Motion. Students will create a video presentation explaining in their own words what they learned throughout this part of the course.

Social Studies-Careers, Economics, budgeting, wants vs. needs, goods and services, What is a Candidate?
Candidate Information Sheet, What is Voting? Students will create a Vote Poster
Vote for Me Poster Activity. We will discuss how elections work in the United States. Students will create a budget; students will create a poster collage of wants and needs.

Students will complete activities throughout the week of each different subject. We will play Kahoot for a fun interactive way to check for understanding. Students will submit videos and photos to show their projects. Parents may want to build a portfolio with student activities.
